    • Thats very sweet, but pictures hide a lot, and everything on my body now is like an inch or two lower than its supposed to be, lol. 😉

      • Cheesy?! Not at all. Anyone that finds it cheesy is probably just jealous. What you have with your man is unfortunately a rarity in today’s world. Share it proudly.

  9. Memories like these are so essential 😀
    So the drawing:
You got a good eye for proportions hun.
The shading is the trick with it.
Proportions also form better when the shading comes into play hey.
I often look at a pic and think – HECK that mouth is too wide or thin – but when I add the highlights and shadows it falls into shape.
It is kinda like your drawings ARE cartoons,,the resemblance is there for sure! – BUT – the aspect of realism is amiss. THAT is only going to come with practice and following some tutorials on how to get the details working for you.
I remember being taught to look three times and draw – and draw one line! (sigh)
Fortunately after a while it gets quicker and easier to ‘remember’ what goes where and how on a face (you obviously like doing the human being 😀 – my fav too!)
Once you begin bringing in the three dimensional aspect with lots of different tones ..it will REALLY come along.
The underlying talent is there – but it IS like everything – practice practice —– and patience 😀
Will be cool to see you keep drawing and putting them up …and you ARE ALLOWED to tag THESE ‘ART’! Gosh darn it!!!

    • Yeah I cant draw realistic stuff yet, but a friend of mine the indecisive eejit has a cartoon craziness challenge each week so after I did the one of me as a cartoon I decided to do this one to. My mother is an actual artist she can paint or draw anything and makes good money doing it, we dont talk anymore or I would have her teach me. And thanks for the encouragement, I shall keep trying.

      • Shew – ok.
I won’t ask – shit happens hey – but keep drawing HOWEVER feels right. Your work is NOT unrealistic…just not detailed…seems that is the intention really though? (cartoons are not realistic are they!) 😀

      • Sorry husband got home from work and has an earache i had to tend to. I like the over all comic book style, but I would much rather be able to draw actual portraits.

      • Oh no – poor dude!
All I can say then hun – is keep at it hey. But don’t ever lose the fun aspect – that sucks (but I am sure you know that right)
Step at a time as with all else we approach.
As I said – you got the proportions going – which IS the NUMBER one problem people face with – uhum – the human face! O_o

      • Yeah not much can be done for an earache. I gave him some Tylenol and poured some sweet oil in it. Thanks I really appreciate the constructive criticism and I will start trying to work more with my shades.

      • …sorry – my favourite topic really.. LOL.
Look carefully where light falls on the face. and gently gently with that pencil – even if you do that smudging technique to begin with hey. Nice soft pencil. I NEVER use anything harder than a 2B. (so no hb or 2H etc)
And the paper IS important. Some nice sketch paper!
Shade circles and squares to get your 3D skills in.
        ….
I am going to turn my blog into an art blog instead of a poetry blog 😉 LOL! I dunno – best go get some sleep or I will be hitting the energy drinks tomorrow again.
        Nite Diana.
